TOTENMARSCHKLAVIER (for English translation please scroll down)
Ich kann den Weg nicht sehen,
ich weiß nicht, wie und wann,
ich muss ihn weitergehen,
auch wenn ich nicht mehr kann.
In mir ist kein Verstehen,
in mir sind Fragen nur,
kann vor mich ja nicht sehen,
nur hinter mir die Spur.
Der Tod hört keine Bitte,
er triumphiert in mir,
ich höre seine Schritte,
sein Totenmarschklavier!
Auf kalter, dunkler Straße
sah ich mein Leben fliehn,
es will in vollem Maße
der Tod bei mir einzieh´n!
I cannot see the road,
I don´t know how or when,
I need to continue going on it
even though I don´t have the strength any more.
Within in me, there is no understanding,
within me, there are only questions
for I cannot see in front of me,
only the track behind me.
Death hears no plea,
he triumphs within me,
I hear his steps,
his funeral march piano!
On a cold, dark road
I saw me life flee,
to a full degree
death wants to move in with me!

LÖWENMUT (for English translation please scroll down)
Ich gaukle mir die Hoffnung vor,
ich will nichts hör´n, verschließ mein Ohr,
ich muss Dich gehen lassen,
will Dich nur fester fassen.
in Bitterkeit mein Herz ertrinkt.
Deiner entsage und still ertrage!
Oh falls es etwas Höh´res gibt,
das uns beschützt und das uns liebt,
hilf in mir finden Löwenmut
ich will nichts hör´n, verschließ mein Ohr.
Ich muss Dich gehen lassen,
ich muss Dich gehen lassen.
I pretend hope to myself,
I don´t want to hear anything, I close my ear,
I need to let to go of you,
I only want to hold you tighter.
Ignite a light for me, ignite a light for me
so that I can find the path, the selfless one,
that I make the last days easier for you
and hold watch by your side without complaint.
Whatever should I believe in,
I love my illusion,
life brings me to my knees,
my heart drowns in bitterness.
Ignite a light for me, ignite a light for me,
so that I can find the path, the selfless one,
that I renounce you and suffer in silence!
Oh, if something can hear me
that protects us and loves us,
help me find within me the courage of lions
and dissolve powerless anger!
With a trembling heart, with shaking hands,
with sleepless eyes I hold on to you!
You lie in pain, I cannot prevent it,
I´m not capable of anything because you are leaving me!
I wear my face of courage,
why don´t you fight,
it will be so terrible
when you leave me alone!
I am alone in this world,
no god, no savior, no hero comes!
I pretend hope to myself,
I don´t want to hear anything, I close my ear,
I need to let to go of you,
I need to let to go of you.

VULKAN (for English translation please scroll down)
warum bin allein ich in meiner Not,
I dreamt that the earth rained blood
and that the winds were storming up.
Out of the ashes bubble destructive embers
and the waters left their course.
I lie in bed, already pale as death,
the sun is shining through the window,
why am I alone in my need,
how can it be like always?
I want to tear the world from its joints
and destroy stone by stone!
How can the sun continue to glare,
how can it be like always?
I want to run outside into the road
and grab you and scream:
Why is everything over for me,
why does it have to be ME?
Why does it have to me precisely?

WIEGENLIED (for English translation please scroll down)
Be held, I hold you like a child
when monsters are within in the evening wind,
oh be held, I hold you within my arm,
you don´t have to do anything, I hold you warm.
Be held, and even though the place is depressing,
within sleep you forget the suffering,
oh be held, I am not going away, be assured,
and night demons stay in front of the door.
Be held, take my strength, I don´t need it,
the night blooms in the moonshine light,
oh be held, I gently caress your tired face
and smile while my heart breaks silently.
I chase off our worries,
I blow them away, I wipe them out,
once the morning shines brightly for us
we will laugh about our worries.

TODESFARBEN (for English translation please scroll down)
Der Tod hat mein Gesicht bemalt
mit seinen fahlen Farben.
Er macht mich krank, er macht mich alt,
er gibt mir neue Narben.
Es ist ein grober Zimmermann,
der meine Züge prägt,
der schonen weder will, noch kann,
den Körper mir zerlegt!
Und Du hast mich erst nicht erkannt,
am Bett gingst Du vorbei,
da hob ich die verwelkte Hand,
der Betten waren´s zwei!
Ich warte, warte schon so lang,
mir ist; ich möchte weinen.
Death has painted my face
with his pale colors.
He makes me sick, he makes me old,
he give me new scars.
He is a crude carpenter
who imprints my features,
who neither wants nor can spare me,
who takes my body apart!
And you at first didn´t recognize me,
you went past my bed,
then I lifted the wilted hand,
there were two beds!
I have been waiting, waiting for such a long time,
I feel like I want to cry.

ATEMHAUS (for English translation please scroll down)
Lass mich mir im Atem bauen
hier ein heimatliches Haus,
will in Deine Macht vertrau´n,
in dies Ein und Aus, atme aus.
Ruhe aus, ruhe aus.
Nur für hier und nur für heute
schwebe auf der Welle ich,
Sorgen sind für and´re Leute,
Du umhüllst mich fürsorglich.
Will aus Deiner Quelle trinken,
Du trägst mich sanft und weich,
lasse tief mich in Dich sinken,
schwimm in dem Atemteich.
Ruhe aus, ruhe aus.
Nur für hier und nur für heute,
in dir bin ich sicher Ich,
Sorgen sind für and´re Leute,
ankerst, birgst und badest mich.
Allow me to build within my breath,
here, a homely house,
I want to trust in your power
in this in and out, breathe out.
Rest, rest.
Only here and only for today
I float on the wave,
worries are for other people,
you embrace me full of care.
I want to drink from your spring,
you carry me gently and softly,
I let myself sink deply within you,
I swim in the breath pond.
Rest, rest.
Only here and only for today,
within you I am safely myself,
worries are for other people,
you anchor, shelter and bathe me.

NACHTGEDANKEN (for English translation please scroll down)
Auf des Sturmes Nachtgedanken
müssen alle Seelen schwanken,
deren Weg des Todes ist,
die im Schlaf sich ruhlos winden,
nicht im Traume Frieden finden,
deren Herz die Stunden misst…
fragen sich, auf welche Weise
an dem Ende ihrer Reise
sie nun bald hinüberziehn,
suchen, sorgen, noch zu fassen,
halten, horten, nur nicht lassen
Leben, das einst wertlos schien!
Unnütz, ungelebtes Leben,
könnte man es neu nur weben,
viel bewusster wär der Weg!
Manche Chance feig verronnen,
manche Tat nur halb begonnen,
unbeschritten mancher Steg.
Vieles mag man nun bereuen,
nicht mehr Zucker drüber streuen,
war mein Leben sinnlos nur?
Sinnlos meines Lebens Spur!
Sinnlos meines Lebens Spur!
On the storm´s night thoughts
all souls must sway
whose way is of death,
they who turn restlessly within sleep
who don´t find peace within their dreams
whose heart measures the hours…
ask themselves in what way
at the end of their travel
they will soon pass over,
search, worry, still to grasp,
to hold, to hoard, only not let go of
life that once seemed worthless!
Useless, unlived life,
were you able to weave it anew
the way would be much more conscious!
Many a chance cowardly trickled away,
many a deed only begun halfway,
many a footbridge not stepped on.
Many things one may now regret,
no sugar to be sprinkled over them any more,
has my life been without meaning?
The trail of my life is meaningless!
The trail of my life is meaningless!

TRUGBILD (for English translation please scroll down)
Die Hoffnung ist ein loser Schuh,
der nicht so richtig passt.
Ich stopfe mit Papier ihn zu,
damit er besser fasst.
Alle Dinge groß und klein
erzählen mir von Dir.
Wie kann es denn auch anders sein,
bald bist Du wieder hier!
Mein Herz so weit und offen ist,
wenn Du in meiner Nähe bist,
es darf nicht anders werden!
In Deinen Augen wunderbar,
mal frech, mal scheu, dann schal.
Hope is a loose shoe
that doesn´t fit so well.
I stuff it full of paper
so it grips better.
All things large and small
tell me about you.
How could it be any different,
soon you will be here again!
My heart is so wide and open
when you are close to me,
it must not become any different!
In your wonderful
I read my soul,
remain on this earth!
Hope is a thin garment,
as fine as a spider´s web,
a nothing, fragile within my hand,
of deceiving appearance.
Your coat today enfolds me,
it smells like you,
I am way too small for it,
that makes you smile immediately.
Hope is changeling,
now bold, now shy, then stale.
It pulls itself together like a fool
who dances with bells within an empty hall.
I am so afraid.

SCHMERZENSTIER (for English translation please scroll down)
Es steht nie still, muss nie ruhn,
Betäubung bringt her!
The pain within me is like an animal
that is sharpening its talons
and bites, tears, shreds into pieces
my peace of soul!
It never stand still, it never has to rest,
it doesn´t grow tired and old,
it is within me whatever I do
and pulls at me with force!
More than death I fear pain,
it steals my strength, wears down my heart.
If only I could pass away within my sleep, yes, yes,
if the suffering wasn´t forever present!
The medicine so depressingly weak
only trickles through the blood!
The pain animal is wide awake,
it lifts its head full of anger!
However can you be a human being
if only pain rules?
Human dignity becomes very small,
the animal triumphs!
I am not a human being any more, I am a wound,
lamenting and bleeding at all hours!
Can only feel and not think any more,
do I need to beg? Bring me anesthesia!

FREUDENREIGEN (for English translation please scroll down)
In dieser Nacht hab ich beinah
das Reich der Lebenden verlassen.
Der Lichtertunnel war schon da,
ich konnt die and´re Seite fassen.
Ich drängte vorwärts zu dem Licht,
das hell und stark und leuchtend war,
und fühlte meine Qualen nicht,
und alles war mit einmal klar.
Doch dann zog mich ein Sog zurück
hierher, wo ich nicht heimisch bin,
ich sah ja schon das and´re Glück,
es zieht mich zur Erlösung hin,
es zieht mich zur Erlösung hin.
Und wenn dann meine Lippen schweigen
und wenn mein Aug geschlossen ist,
dann tanze ich den Freudenreigen,
weil dann mein Herz zu Hause ist!
Dann fallen ab die alten Schmerzen
und leicht schweb ich und sorgenfrei
und strahle hell wie tausend Kerzen
singe, jub´le, dann dabei!
Ich wünscht, ich könnte es Dir zeigen,
das Licht, das mir die Freiheit bringt,
den Klang der Harfen, Zimbeln, Geigen,
wo nur Frieden in mir singt!
During this night I almost
left the realm of the living.
The tunnel of light was already present,
I could touch the other side.
I pressed forwards towards the light
that was bright and strong and shining
and I did not feel my agonies
and suddenly everything was clear.
But then a maelstrom pulled me back
here, where I am not at home,
as I have already seen the other happiness,
I am drawn towards salvation,
I am drawn towards salvation.
And when my lips are quiet then
and when my eye is closed,
then I dance the round dance of joy
because my heart is at home then!
Then the old pains fall off
and I float lightly and without a care
and I shine brightly like a thousand candles
and I sing and rejoice at the same time!
I wish I could show it to you,
the light that brings me freedom,
the sound of the harps, cymbals and violins,
where only peace sings within me!

KÖRPERKÄFIG (for English translation please scroll down)
Ich kann Dich nur noch hör´n,
mein Geist ist hell und wach,
doch meine Augen liegen
wie unter einem Dach.
Ich bin in meinem Denken
gefangen tief in mir,
wollt Dir doch Worte schenken
und nicht nur liegen hier.
Meine Liebe ist unendlich.
Ist unendlich! Ah!
Ich muss verzagen,
mein Mund lässt mich ganz im Stich,
wollt Dir noch sagen,
wie sehr ich liebe Dich!
Als ich noch sprechen konnte,
da schwieg ich feig und faul,
als mich das Leben sonnte,
da hielt ich dumm mein Maul!
Der Tag geht zäh, lange,
wie Karussell im Kreis,
in meines Körpers Zange
ich keine Hilf mir weiß.
I can only hear you any more,
my mind is clear and awake,
but my eyes lie
as if beneath a roof.
Within my thinking
I am trapped deep inside of me,
but wanted to gift you words
and not just lie here!
My love is infinite.
Is infinite! Ah!
I have to despair,
my mouth lets me down completely,
but I wanted to tell you
how much I love you!
When I was still able to speak
I stayed quiet cowardly and lazily,
when life was basking me
I stupidly kept my gob shut!
The day passes in a viscous and lengthy way,
like a merry-go-round in a circle,
within my body´s pliers
I know of no help for me.

ENGELSTRAUM (for English translation please scroll down)
Oh Engel meines Sterbens,
Oh Engel meines Sterbens
auf samtig-grünen Höh´n,
muss ich auch heut hinübergeh´n,
ich kann´s, ich kann Dich sehn!
I kiss the seam of the gown for you, angel, you
who appeared in my dream and at once
put into my stong pains and my heart full of fear
peace and resounded so healingly within me!
Oh angel of my dying
how beautiful is your countenance,
even if I have to pass over today,
I can do it if I can see you!
I follow your steps in this darkness,
your wings shimmer goldenly and your dress blows in silver,
I could cry with joy, far away I see standing
the old friends, long-time dead, who walk towards me.
Oh angel of my dying
on velvety-green heights,
even if I have to pass over today,
I can do it, I can see you!

WINTERWIESE (for English translation please scroll down)
Ist vollendet alles Streben,
hat verloren seine Macht,
alles Wollen, alles Geben,
ich umarme diese Nacht.
Unter diesen weißen Wiesen,
die berührt von neuem Schnee,
möcht ich liegen, unter diesen,
hier vergeht nun alles Weh.
was einst war, so weit, weit fort.
Eines märchenhaften Falles
und von längst vergess´nem Ort.
Blätterkahl die Bäume dunkeln,
leg ich nieder mich zur Ruh,
unter Schichten, die weiß funkeln,
deckt der Schnee die Gräber zu.
When all striving has ended,
has lost all its power,
all wanting and all giving,
I embrace this night.
Beneath those white meadows
that are touched by new snow
I want to lie, beneath those,
here all suffering ends now.
All my fears were only lies!
I get up, I promenade on love´s field!
All my wounds that life dealt me
are now cured, dressed, I cannot wear any shadows.
As a human I am finally known authentically,
invulnerable I end within the hand of spirit!
Everything seems like a dream to me
what once was, so far, far away.
Of a fairy-tale-like case
and of a long-forgotten place.
Leafless the trees darken,
when I lay down to rest
beneath layers that sparkle white
the snow covers the graves.
